Cookie Policy

Last updated October 28, 2026

Short and boring, as it should be.

1. Summary

We use no advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner. The only cookies we set are strictly necessary — one keeps you signed in, and one only tells the page to render the signed-in interface, which privacy law allows without consent.

2. Cookies we set

  • Session cookie (set when you sign in): keeps you signed in. It is HTTP-only, sent only over HTTPS, and removed when you sign out or it expires.
  • Sign-in hint cookie (set when you sign in): records only that a session cookie is present, so the navigation bar renders your signed-in controls from the first moment instead of flashing the signed-out version first. It holds no personal data, is never used to authorize anything, and is removed when you sign out.

3. Preferences stored in your browser

Your browser’s local storage remembers choices you make — color theme, video player speed and volume, recent searches, and whether you subscribed to the newsletter on this device. This data never leaves your device; clearing site data removes it.

4. Third parties

  • Cloudflare Turnstile checks that form submissions come from a person. It does not use cookies to track you across sites.
  • YouTube videos use the privacy-enhanced (no-cookie) domain and load only when you press play.
  • Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout and billing pages, which are on Stripe’s domain, to prevent fraud.
  • Plausible (when enabled) measures page views without cookies.

5. Your control

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; you will be signed out and will need to sign in again. More about how we handle data is in the Privacy Policy.
